Focus on Making a Better Life for You: Small Changes Work

It’s my goal to learn more about bringing abundance into my life, and experiencing wealth and prosperity. There are many ways to do this, and some are more effective than others. The most effect ways, I have found, are the ones that resonate with you.

The three I am sharing did exactly that. They resonated loud and clear, and are changes I am actively trying to adapt into my own day to day life.

1. Focusing on world disasters made by humans fuels the disasters. 

I am sure that you’ve heard of “borrowing trouble” by talking too much about something not going well. It’s not much different when we focus on world disasters that other humans have created.

When you think of an event, a topic or a feeling, there are vibrations sent out into the universe. The vibrations from many people will become conjoined, and will gain strength. This strength can turn a non-episode into a deadly one, just by giving it too much energy.

Think of a pool of water. You skip a stone across the water, and it ripples. Your friend skips a stone across the water, and there are more ripples. If you and ten of your friends skip the stones across the water at the same time, the water becomes choppy. Choppy water can lead to waves and currents. Thus, energy builds up a bigger response.

Another quick example: when a child cries and has a tantrum, the child’s response is often a reflection of your own. If you get animated and excited about the tantrum, it will grow. If you ignore it, or calmly deal with it, it will dissipate much quicker than the other method. (I understand this isn’t written in stone, but it’s under the parenting 101 course.)

Energy fuels the proverbial fire. When a population of people begin to invest energy into a negative situation, it can and usually does cause repercussions. Like ripples in the pond, it stretches out and grabs more and more people, and eventually an action occurs that may not have otherwise happened.

How do you prevent bad things from happening? Well, I don’t think we can, as there will always be misdirected folks. What we can control is letting go of the hurt and anger and fascination with the incident and focus on acceptance, happiness and strength.

Try this exercise the next time you watch the news. Wish people well, and trust that others will find a happier mindset. Don’t focus on the bad. It’s not worth your time or energy, and it doesn’t help you to build a better life.

2. Remove NOT, NO and DON’T 

I can credit The Secret and Michael Losier for this one. 

I am actively trying to remove NOT, NO and DON’T from my vocabulary. How? Change the statement. Say what you do want?

“If you don’t change what you see, you will not see change.”
Change what you see, and you WILL see change. 

We say those words so easily, and it’s hard to censor them at first. Pause before answering and rephrase.

If you believe the universe is listening, why make a statement that could bring you what you don’t desire? Be clear, and you will find that, not only people in your life will understand you better, but the universe will more accurately provide you with your dreams and desires.

“The Secret” says that the universe cannot decipher those words. 
“I do not want to be late.” (Be Late. Got it.) 
Whereas, if you say “I want to be on time.” 
There’s no way to misinterpret that. 

Ask for a better life: to be happier and healthier, and to receive all the gifts of the universe.

3. Manners

Remember chivalry? Saying please and thank you, and opening doors for people? How about giving up your seat in public transportation for someone older/less able than you?

We’ve built this bubble of technology around ourselves that we no longer notice what’s going on. How many times have you seen the video of someone texting and walking, and walks straight into a pole? We are not paying attention.

This is a scary situation to be in. You become vulnerable to others with nefarious actions. Muggings. Wrong place, wrong time.

Maybe that’s a bit extreme in some areas of the world. And perhaps it doesn’t relate to manners, but a defensive action is to look at each person as they pass you, and say hello. I’ve read that some psychopaths have stated, if someone spoke to them, it derailed their plans, and that person was no longer a target. On the lighter side, it can make someone’s day just by saying, good morning!

Together, let’s let go of road rage, pay attention to our surroundings, and take a moment to give back. It will come back to you tenfold, and that’s just one more thing to make you a happier and healthier you.
